Pastor Jerry Gaddis and his wife Anita
Brother Jerry Gaddis has been the pastor of our church for nineteen years, coming to Plainville in 1990. Before that, Jerry has pastored churches in Alto, GA, and Hoschton, GA. Jerry is originally from Brasleton, GA.
The church has experienced phenomenal growth during Pastor Gaddis's tenure here. When he first came to the church in 1990, Sunday attendance was running about 30 people per service. Now, there are about 298 members in the church, with attendance of anywhere between 120 and 170 per service. The church has recently had to expand it's sanctuary from the small, early 1900's era church by adding a new sanctuary, basement, and Sunday School rooms behind the old church.
On a personal note, Jerry and his wife, Anita have been married 40 years, and they have three wonderful children. They are the epitome of the verse "raise your child in the way they should go...", as all three of the Gaddis children and their families are active in God's churches.
Their oldest child, Sheryll Davis, lives here in Georgia. Her husband, Jim Davis, is a drill sergent in the United States Army, and is assigned to Fort Hunter, California. They have one daughter, Brooke.
The middle son, Joe, and his wife Kim make their home in Calhoun. Both of them are active within the church. Kim serves as a Sunday School teacher and is the piano player and Praise Team leader. Joe is a Sunday School assistant, as well as the drummer for the Praise Team. Joe and Kim have three children; Lance, Katelyn, and Scarlett.
The youngest son, Adam, and his wife Christy make their home in Adairsville, and are also active in the church. Christy is active in the childrens church, while Adam plays bass guitar on the Praise Team and assists the sound board operator. Adam and Christy have three children; Kip, KC, and Kolby.
In addition to his duties as Pastor, in July of 2004, Jerry Gaddis was ordained as Bishop in the Church of God of Prophecy. In August of 2004, he was appointed to the post of Overseer for Georgia churches in District 11. This district covers Gordon, Floyd, Polk, and Bartow counties and includes seven Church of God of Prophecy churches.
It should be noted as well that Jerry is a talented musician who sings, plays the piano, and occasionally sits in on bass with the Praise Team.
